This is a dorsal fin spine of a shark, like those in the present-day horn sharks. The scale is in cm. It has been donated to the American Museum of Natural History. It was identified by Dr. John Maisey of the American Museum of Natural History. I wrote a newsletter article about finding this fossil, which is reprinted here.
