Specimen #697
Taxon: Pseudorthoceras knoxense (McChesney)
Locality: Dotsero, Eagle County, CO
Age: Pennsylvanian
Rock unit: Belden Formation
Collector: Michelle Itano

This is an orthocone (straight) nautiloid, which is relatively common in the Pennsylvanian. On part, the shell is worn away, and the septa, which divide the interior into chambers, are visible. I have also found this species in the Minturn Formation, near McCoy, Colorado. (Length 2 cm.)
