Taxon: Phylum Mollusca, Class Gastropoda
Locality: Pueblo County, CO
Age: Cretaceous Period, Upper Campanian Stage
Rock unit: Baculites scotti zone of Pierre Shale
Collector: W. Itano

This inside mold of a gastropod, with a small part of the shell attached, was found inside a fossil Baculites. It is probably impossible to determine even the genus, much less the species, since the outer shell is not preserved. Very likely the genus is Drepanochilus, which is the most common Pierre Shale gastropod genus having this general shape. (Length of gastropod 2 cm.)
