Larger image (16 kb)
Specimen #862
Taxon: Class Cephalopoda
Locality: McCoy, Eagle County, CO
Age: Pennsylvanian Period
Rock unit: Minturn Formation
Collector: W. Itano
This appears to be a fragment of the shell of a coiled nautiloid cephalopod.
The curved lines are the septa.
It is not identifiable, but is interesting because it shows that some
relatively large coiled nautiloids are present at McCoy.
